A reflection on Revelation 8:1
“When the Lamb ripped off the seventh seal, Heaven fell quiet—complete silence for about half an hour.” (Revelation 8:1 MSG)
Recently on my own I have been studying through the book of Revelation. This week as I started verse one of chapter eight I decided to camp out on that one verse for a while. Such a small verse relays such a HUGE truth: sometimes when we encounter the...

The new "Plugged in" iPhone app →
I just got this app for the iPhone 4 last week and it is a GREAT tool for choosing movies/dvd’s/video games to see/play with your students. The app rates every current movie/dvd/album/game so you can make an educated decision about whether or not you want to see it. Check it out and let me know what you think!
Pax,
Rob

Youth Ministry: Starting Out Right by keeping the...
A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to attend a seminar with the leading new testament scholar and former bishop of Durham in England, N.T. Wright. He was speaking on the state of the Christian church, where we have been and where we are going. At one point during his lecture he said one of the most profound statements of the night:
“…your...

Last weekend @ WILDSIDE 12/18/2010
This past weekend was our finale of “IT’S A WILDSIDE CHRISTMAS” at Wildside (our jr. high Christmas series). Here is the rundown from the weekend:
Pre-service: We grabbed some youtube videos of little kids screaming with joy as they opened their Christmas gifts (like those “We’re going to Disneyland” commercials) and used it as our 5-minute countdown to start off the...

Thoughts on Chapter 2 of “Too Busy Not To Pray” by...
I’ve volunteered/worked in youth ministry for about 10 years now, and pretty much without fail every year I will have at least one conversation with a jr. high student that goes something like this:
Me: “How can I pray for you today?”
Jr. High Student: ”Um…I don’t know…for wars to stop… and…um…to have world peace…...

Pray! iPhone app →
I’ve been thinking about prayer a lot this week and I just ran across this app on the iTunes store and it’s incredible! You can schedule prayer reminders in the app and they will send you a push notification on a date/time that you pick to remind you to pray for a certain request. It’s only $.99. Enjoy!
Introducing: "THE OTHER 6" resource
Here is a brand new WILDSIDE resource I created called “The Other 6”. I am really excited about this new resource/tool in our student ministry. ”The Other 6” is a simple way for students to spend time with God “the other 6 days of the week” that they’re not at church. Basically after experiencing a few of our WILDSIDE Jr. High services I noticed a void...

Thoughts on Chapter 1 of "Too Busy Not To Pray" by...
“Prayer is an unnatural activity.”
Well said Bill Hybels! That about sums it up for me! In the first sentence of his book, Hybels perfectly describes my own struggle with being a man of prayer. For me living a life of prayer has always been difficult. Now I don’t mean the typical “prayer before a meal” or a “quiet time prayer” I mean a consistent...

"Too Busy Not To Pray" →
So today I read Revelation 5:8-10. Verse 8 reads: “And when He took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp, and they held gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.”
What really struck me was that “…they held gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.” This is such an...

God's Plans=Moving ALOT...
From college to marriage, rock star to youth pastor and everything in between, following after God’s will in my life has never been boring. Thinking through every event that has ever occurred in my life I can say one thing with absolute certainty: Following Jesus is the best decision I have ever made.
This morning I was wondering what my life would be like today if I had decided at...

A conversation with my wife...
Heather: I don't like playing Halo 3. All we do is walk around killing each other!
Rob: Babe, I'm not killing you. I'm killing your avatar.
Heather: You are such a dork.
